Information on personal data processing
Pursuant to Article 13 of REGULATION (EU) 2016/679 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR), the University of Szczecin informs that:

Data controller
The controller of your personal data is the University of Szczecin with its registered office in Szczecin, al. Papie?a Jana Paw?a II 22a, 70-453 Szczecin, e-mail: rektorat@usz.edu.pl
Data Protection Officer (DPO)
The controller has appointed a Data Protection Officer, whom you may contact by e-mail at: iod@usz.edu.pl or in writing to the following address: al. Papie?a Jana Paw?a II 31, 70-453 Szczecin. You may contact the DPO in all matters concerning the processing of your personal data by the University of Szczecin.
Purposes and legal basis for data processing Your personal data will be processed for the purpose of fulfilling legal obligations incumbent upon the Controller and for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest in connection with the recruitment process to the Doctoral School of the University of Szczecin and the implementation of the education process, including: documenting the course of recruitment, the course of education, issuing documents and fulfilling reporting, archival, statistical, accounting and financial obligations, carried out on the basis of university regulations resulting from applicable law, i.e. the Act - Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and executive regulations issued on its basis, the Act on the National Archival Resources and Archives, and the Act on Official Statistics - pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) and (e) of the GDPR.
In addition, your personal data may be processed in connection with applying for a place in a student dormitory, scholarships or funding for scientific development, as well as participation in doctoral organisations and competitions - pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) and (e) of the GDPR.
Your personal data may also be processed for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Controller, namely to establish, pursue or defend legal claims – pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
Where the processing of personal data for purposes and within a scope other than those described above requires your consent, you will be asked to provide such consent each time, indicating separately each purpose for which your personal data will be processed - pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
Data retention period
Your personal data will be stored for the period necessary, i.e. for the duration of the recruitment process and, after its completion, for 6 months, as well as for the duration of the education process, including the performance of rights and obligations arising from applicable law, and thereafter for the period necessary to secure and pursue potential claims or to defend against such claims, and for archival purposes for a period of 50 years.
Where your personal data are processed on the basis of your consent, they will be stored until you withdraw your consent.
Data recipients
Access to your personal data will be granted to authorised employees of the University of Szczecin, including members of recruitment committees and selection panels.
Recipients of your personal data will be or may be entities to which the Controller is obliged to disclose data under generally applicable law (e.g. public authorities), as well as entities entrusted with the processing of personal data under contracts in connection with services provided to the Controller, which are necessary for the proper implementation of the education process, including the performance of the agreement (including IT system providers, payment operators, hosting service providers, advisory, audit, legal, accounting and postal service providers).
Rights related to data processing
You also have the right to:
a) obtain information about the processing of personal data and the rights granted under the GDPR,
b) access your data, rectify them and obtain a copy thereof,
c) request the deletion of personal data (unless further processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims),
d) request restriction of processing, data portability, and object to processing - in cases and under the conditions specified in the GDPR,
e) lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, if you consider that the processing of your personal data violates data protection laws.

Obligation to provide data and consequences of failure to provide data
Providing personal data is voluntary; however, their processing by the University of Szczecin is necessary to conduct the recruitment process for the Doctoral School and to proceed further in accordance with applicable regulations. Providing personal data is a condition for participation in the recruitment process. Failure to provide data will make it impossible to participate in recruitment.

I declare that I have read the Resolution No. 81/2025 of the Senate of the University of Szczecin on the rules of recruitment, qualification criteria, admission limits and the recruitment schedule to the Doctoral School of the University of Szczecin for the academic year 2026/2027, together with its annexes.

I declare that I bear full responsibility for incorrect completion of online forms, failure to complete them or providing false information. I acknowledge that the University of Szczecin is not responsible for the content of the information provided by me, nor for the inability to register caused by internet failures, server overload, etc.

I acknowledge that admission to the second stage of the recruitment process will take place provided that, within the deadline specified in the schedule, the candidate fulfils all of the following conditions: provides all required personal data, pays the recruitment fee to the individual account generated by the ERK system, attaches proof of payment in their personal candidate account and the payment is registered in the account of the University of Szczecin, and submits a complete set of required documents in the ERK system.

I acknowledge that my personal data will be processed for the purpose of conducting the recruitment process to the Doctoral School of the University of Szczecin and, in the event of admission, for the purpose of carrying out the education process and fulfilling the University's legal obligations, including documenting the course of education, issuing documents and fulfilling reporting, archival, statistical, accounting and financial obligations. The legal basis for data processing is Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR. Legal obligations arise from the Act - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended), in particular Articles 200, 198-216 and 323, as well as executive acts issued on their basis and internal regulations of the University of Szczecin.

I consent to receiving SMS messages from the University of Szczecin to the private mobile phone number provided by me, containing information related to the recruitment process at the University of Szczecin.
